ASLRRA staff represent the short line industry on numerous committees that advise and provide guidance on the attendees, offered 10+ hours of
freight industry including FRA’s Railroad Safety Advisory Committee (RSAC), Fatality Analysis of Maintenance-of-Way
Employees and Signalmen (FAMES) Committee, and the Switching Operations Fatality Analysis (SOFA) Working live streamed general session,
Group; and the National Committee on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (NCUTCD). In addition, staff members promote and delivered 30+ hours of
the short line industry by serving in leadership positions on the Transportation Research Board Committees, League breakout education sessions
of Railway Women and Operation Lifesaver. presented by more than 80
subject matter experts
ASLRRA promoted the interest of short line and regional railroads in critical areas identified by our Technology
Committee, including improved customer service and event reporting, Positive Train Control (PTC), geographic
information systems (GIS), and cyber security. Key to these efforts has been the participation of ASLRRA, along with
member railroad representatives, in a series of workshops intended to identify
